Neil is a tax partner at RSM with over fifteen years of experience consulting clients on various business matters with an emphasis on tax issues encountered by financial stakeholders in the real estate industry. He specializes in structuring investment funds that accommodate various types of investors with different tax sensitivities and goals. His clients consist of public and private Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and real estate investment funds with foreign and domestic investors including high net worth individuals and various types of institutional tax exempt investors. These clients invest in foreign and domestic commercial real estate assets across all product types (i.e. hotel, healthcare, multifamily, retail, office, and industrial properties). As part of RSM’s National Real Estate Practice based in Chicago, Neil is responsible for helping expand tax services to new and existing clients in the REIT and real estate fund sectors across the national platform. Neil obtained a finance degree from the University of Illinois and a MBA from DePaul University. He is a CPA and a member of the Urban Land Institute, National Association of Real Estate Investments Trusts, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as a guest lecturer at local colleges and has led discussions at several professional organizations including recent presentations at the IMN Real Estate CFO and Privcap Private Equity Real Estate forums in New York and Los Angeles. He is also actively involved in his community of Arlington Heights where he coaches several youth basketball teams and serves as a member of the board for the Arlington Heights Youth Basketball Association (AHYBA).
